In Memory of Dave Denault

Dave Denault, LLOT 0813

It is with great sadness that Fraser Valley Regional Library announces the sudden passing of our colleague and friend Dave Denault, Tour Manager for Library Live and On Tour. He suffered a major cerebellar hemorrhage and passed away on May 5, 2016.

Dave Denault was Tour Manager for FVRL’s Library Live and On Tour since summer 2013, coming to us with a wealth of experience in community development. He had established two recovery houses for men, started an outreach program for women in prostitution, tutored incarcerated men, and volunteered as a literacy and youth outreach worker. Dave also served as the Abbotsford Community Chaplain for Corrections Canada and founded Street Hope Ministries in Chilliwack, an employment skills program for men in recovery.

Dave was passionate about how the library could change and improve lives, and he loved introducing people to the library’s wonders of reading, technology, and life-enriching programs. His smile was infectious and reflected his heart of compassion for people from all walks of life. He gave hope, encouragement, and practical help to countless people.

Dave will be deeply missed by us all.
